Contemporary Botanical Riverside Wedding at Black Pearl on the Columbia in Washougal, WA
Marissa + Eric chose Black Pearl on the Columbia as the setting for their botanical-inspired wedding. Nestled along the river bank with stunning views of the Columbia River, the modern industrial architecture provided the perfect backdrop for the lush greenery and colorful orchids. We used big leafy stems like Alocasia, Fan Palms, Philodendrons and Calathea to create impact, while Cymbidium and Phalaenopsis orchids provided the color and texture.
We decided to do things a little differently when it came to the personal florals. Marissa requested that we add a splash of color to mix in and accentuate all of the lush greenery. We decided to go for something small but impactful, so I limited the amount of varieties and decided to go for a few really stunning flowers. I found these spotted purple Phalaenopsis orchids that paired perfectly with the purple dahlias, purple anthurium and pink callas. It was a wonderful little explosion of color. The groomsmen’s pocket square boutonnieres really stole the show. Marissa + Eric requested that each one be a little different. I used ferns, huechera, delphinium, green amaranth, orchids and lots of other little textural gems to create these mini gardens. They truly looked like little gardens growing out of their pockets.
